Various supplements work with different mechanisms on the body; some reduce hunger and thereby control the food intake, some increase the levels of testosterone and enhance fat burning and muscle gain. All weight loss supplements, should be thought of as a boost to dieting and exercise, not a replacement for either. There is no magic bullet for losing weight. The most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is through lifestyle changes. Eat a healthy low-calorie diet with lots of fruits and vegetables and be physically active. While taking these supplements it is very important to cut down on the carbohydrates, which will force the body to burn up the stored fat as energy.

Safety Concerns

The limited research done on the effectiveness of these supplements makes it difficult to judge the safety of the weight- loss supplement. All the prescription and over the counter supplements have significant side effects on long term usage, some chemicals like Forskolin might also damage the DNA and become the cause for cancers and mutations.

Research before Buying

It is always important that to do proper research before opting to any weight loss supplement. One should not go by the claims these supplements make. People with certain health conditions such as pregnancy, heart attack, diabetes, High Blood Pressure should avoid using these supplements and if they are using should contact the physician before taking any supplements. Also careful monitoring of the dosage needs to be done as some of them can become addictive or cause over dosage.

Although these supplements help in aiding weight loss, they have to be coupled with the proper exercise and healthy diet plans for long lasting results. As, the meaningful weight loss can be obtained only through the natural ways of burning calories.
